This is compilation of how to's that I used at least once in my short Ubuntu career.

Before you use any of the howtos that require software install please enable universe and multiverse repositories. You can find out how by clicking on the link in the red text on the right.
You can search for a howto either by using google search in upper right corner (select ubuntohowtos.com before you search) or simple by pressing CTRL+F and typing whatever you search for.

My windows based computer crashed. I was able to save it to an external hard drive using ubuntu. When I read the external in ubuntu, my music appears, but whenever I try bringing it up into itunes on my windows based computer, it reads the music folder as empty. I think there is a typo.
The text says issue the command root (hd0,1) but the screen shot says root (hd1,0)
And I am guessing the screen shot is correct

Use the one that you get from the find command that is few lines above. Picture is correct, and if I'm not wrong one result from find command is old hard drive and second is new. Order will depend on the way you connected them to your motherboard. To be sure which is which you can run the find command before you start the procedure and hence the result you get will be the old disk since you haven't moved anything to the new one.
